Creative Drama: Magical Kingdoms

In our Magical Kingdoms class, students will travel to faraway places and explore the secrets and mysteries hidden in the walls of ancient castles. Using their bodies and voices, students will bring to life stories featuring wizards, witches, dragons, queens and kings, and all the characters that are in the castles of their imaginations. Each day is filled with stories, craft projects, games, and movement. On the final day, students will act out a story for friends and family.
We Got Annie: A Dance Adventure
July 8-12 and/or July 15-19
Instructor: Piper Foster
Ballet, jazz and modern combine in this dance camp inspired by none other than the musical Annie! Each day students will learn about the story through books and activities, participate in a dance lesson, and learn a short piece of choreography inspired by the classic play. Students are encouraged to enroll in both weeks, but have the option to enroll in just one. Always remember… you're never fully dressed without a smile!

Two weeks. Two shows on Friday, July 19, one at 3:00 p.m. and one at 7:00 p.m. in the Evergreen Theater. Full attendance on all ten days of rehearsal and for both performances is required for participation. Children 11 or 12 years old should only participate in one of our summer musicals (Frozen or Honk).
Calling actors, singers, and dancers! The Evergreen School Summer Performing Arts Program is putting on the first of two big shows this summer and we need your talent! In this two-week production class, students become members of a small cast, and each day is filled with fun activities that build skills in musical theater performance. Every student enrolled receives a copy of the music, a rehearsal cd and the script in advance of rehearsals. Auditions take place on the first day of class. On the last day, July 19, in partnership with our Backstage Crew and Costume Crew classes, actors will present two big performances (3:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.) complete with sets, costumes and lights. Our performing arts program has a team of five experienced teaching artists all led by Evergreen’s Vanessa Miller.

A hands-on experience for those who like to be behind the scenes of a big production! Every day this week, students will be studying with a professional theater designer and building different costume pieces to be used by cast members in our summer productions of Frozen and/or Honk. Working with different materials, learning about color, sewing with a needle and thread, and practicing different paint techniques are just some of the fun activities in this project-packed theater class.

This week, students dive into the deep seas of their imaginations in search of buried treasure! Activities include discovering a long lost map which will lead them to unknown worlds, and meeting colorful characters aboard the ship of Adventure. Each day is filled with stories, craft projects, games and movement. On the final day, students will act out a story for friends and family.
Tech Theater: Costume Crew for Frozen
Instructor: Jessilee Marander
Students in this class are part of the magic behind the scenes of our Frozen musical. As a member of the small crew of costume assistants, students will be altering costumes, assisting with hair and make-up, and organizing quick costumes changes. This is a fun, project-packed theater class for the aspiring designer. By enrolling in this class, students are making a commitment to being present for both performances on Friday, July 19 at 3:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. assisting with costuming.
Tech Theater: Backstage Crew for Frozen
Instructors: Craig Wollam and Suzi Tucker
Students in this class are part of the magic behind the scenes of our Frozen musical. This small team of students will learn about the technical elements of focusing lights, operating a sound board, and being on the backstage crew, shifting scenic elements in time with musical transitions. By enrolling in this class, students are making the commitment to being present for both performances on Friday, July 19 at 3:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to run all backstage tech.
