  • Nature Exploration (Ages 5-7)

    The emphasis this week is to explore nature using our senses. We’ll be listening for sounds of nature … the wind, the birds, insects. We’ll be smelling nature … can you smell air, flowers, animals? We’ll be tasting nature … edible plants and honey. Each day’s focus is on a different sense. Curriculum is taught through science experiments, crafts, stories, games, and cooking.
  • Very Beginning Chess (Ages 5-8)

    This introduction is a great way for very beginners to learn the basics of the wonderfully challenging game of chess. Chess helps young minds to develop exceptional critical thinking and problem solving skills and also encourages creativity and cognitive skills. Coach Lori has lots of experience using games, stories, puzzles, and art projects to help young children learn to love this ancient game.
  • Ooey Gooey Science (Ages 6-8)

    This week-long science and art class encourages wonder, curiosity, and creativity with gooey projects. It allows children full hands-on exploring, helping them develop their imaginations while they learn about their world. Each day these students will immerse themselves in scientific concoctions that involve paint, bubbles, playdough, and many other squishy, colorful mediums. Children should wear play clothes that can get messy.
     
  • Bollywood Dancing (Ages 7-10)

    Back by popular demand! In this energetic and physical week, students will be practicing a series of expressive, choreographed dance routines from popular Hindi/Bollywood music. They will enjoy coordinating footwork while bouncing, twisting, and shaking their bodies to the beats of some of Bollywood’s most popular films. They are guaranteed a fun workout while learning expressive hand gestures that tell stories. Basic Hindi key words and phrases will be taught and spoken as well. On the last day, family and friends are invited to a dance presentation.
     
  • Math Fun! (Ages 8-10)

    In this class, you will have the chance to think and experiment like a mathematician—through playful art that leads to discovery. A lot of us think about mathematicians as people who calculate and memorize facts, but actually, most mathematicians play, come up with interesting questions, and investigate possible solutions. In this course we will be mathematicians experimenting through various art mediums and creative projects. Let's find joy and fun in playing with math!
     
  • Fun with Grub! (Ages 8-11)

    This kids cooking class shows a different, creative approach to food. Students will prepare yummy snack-type foods all while expressing their inner artist. Lessons include crazy kabobs, tie-dye cake in a jar, and twisted tortilla chips. Each “chef” will design their own apron, chef’s hat, and magnetic recipe board to take home. We'll end our week with our own grub demonstration to share with others!
  • Book Arts (Ages 8-11)

    Students will explore the world of book arts, from paper making to book binding. A new project will be presented each day, culminating in personally embellished boxes to house and transport all of their creations.
  • Strategy Games (Ages 9-12)

    Students will have fun playing a wide variety of strategy games, including two-player games, multi-player games, and co-op games. The goals of this class are to: 1) learn new strategic board games but also play games we love, 2) ask for help when needed and practice giving suggestions when asked, 3) explore analytical thinking, spatial thinking and creative thinking, 4) experience healthy competition, and 5) connect with others through board and card games.
  • Birds, Bees and Trees: Becoming Nature Helpers (Ages 10-14)

    The week begins with trips to our local neighborhood park Twin Ponds for birdwatching and learning about plant and tree identification. Then we'll be designing and constructing bird/bee houses using the laser cutter, and creating infographics for educating community members about the value of pollinators and native plants. Students will learn about local birds and bees, and investigate how to support their housing needs in an urban environment. This course develops both science and communication skills through appreciation of nature, observation, and most importantly, social action!

  • Bughouse Team Chess (Ages 6-14)

    Bughouse team chess is a four-person game played between pairs of cooperating chess partners. It is played nationally with a codified set of rules. Children seeking fun team play should join us for study and practice of this unique game. No previous bughouse experience is necessary.
  • Day Hiking Basics (Ages 9-12)

    There’s no better way to spend summer days than hiking in and around our beautiful Seattle! These day hikes are light and simple, perfect for the young and beginner hiking enthusiast. This camp is designed to teach the value of hiking while enjoying the outdoors. Each morning we'll head out for a hike with plenty of rest stops, nature education, and fun along the way. Children should bring a comfortable backpack to sufficiently carry their lunch and water bottle. They must also have sturdy tie-up sneakers or hiking boots. We'll be visiting parks with beach access, so plan to get a little wet and dirty each day! 
  • San Juan Sojourn (Ages 10-12)

    This trip is for curious campers who want to explore the incredible San Juan Islands! We will spend our days checking out beaches, hiking to incredible views, and visiting museums to explore local history and wildlife. We will spend our nights camping out at campgrounds on Orcas Island and San Juan Island. It’s essential that campers have shoes they can hike in and a comfortable daypack they can carry, as well as basic personal camping equipment.   • Leavenworth Adventures (Ages 12-14)

    This trip is geared to the adventurous outdoor enthusiast! We will spend the week exploring the outdoors surrounding beautiful Leavenworth. Our basecamp at a campground in Icicle Canyon will give us a central location with easy access to all of our daily adventures. Each day we will experience something new, which may include day hikes, rock climbing, white water rafting, sightseeing in town, and relaxed river-tubing. Campers will need shoes they can hike in, shoes and clothes for rafting, a daypack, and basic personal camping equipment.   • Sports Medley (Ages 5-7)

    Each day, children will try out a different sport, including soccer, basketball, flag football, and more. We’re introduce children to the fundamentals of the different sports and the basic skills and organization of the game. Come try something new, enjoy your favorites, or a little of both!

    Indian folk dance is a simple dance form that symbolizes joy, happiness and tradition. It is performed whenever possible to celebrate such occasions as the arrival of seasons or birth of a child, and it’s the dance of choice at weddings and festivals. It usually includes music and lyrics that are local to a particular region, as well as specific costume elements highlighting regional culture. Join Nimisha to celebrate our summer season and learn the joy and happy feeling of Indian folk dancing!

  • Let's Craft: Felting and Quilling (Ages 9-12)

    Learn two fun crafts in one week: felting and quilling. This week, we will create felted figures using basic hand sewing skills, flat felt, barbed needles, and wool roving. The art of quilling will also be introduced; using narrow colorful strips of paper, a slotted tool, and glue, we'll create beautiful and unique designs that can be made into pictures and cards. Students are encouraged to draw up their own patterns and dream up their own creations.
  • World Dinners (Ages 9-14)

    Each day students will create a meal—including entree and side dish—representative of a different country! Students will be cooking and baking, with fresh, quality ingredients, and class discussion will include information about the different countries.
  • Games for Brains! Logic Puzzles, Riddles & Challenges (Ages 10-14)

    Your brain needs to be challenged to grow—and you'll certainly grow some serious brainpower in this class! We'll be solving riddles together, stretching our logical limits with a variety of types of logic puzzles, and creating challenges to stump friends and family. Games will be an essential part of the course with the goal of experiencing different types of challenges with open minds. At the end of the week, students will work together to break out of their very own Evergreen Escape Room! There will be a variety of activities to satisfy different interests and introvert/extrovert preferences.
