2-in-1 Summer Fun: Puzzle Lamp and Designing & Building
Instructor: Steven Foster
Grades: Rising 5th to Rising 8th
9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.
Puzzle Lamp: Students will design and build their own freestanding lamp out of pieces they have created using the laser cutter in our makerspace, the BIG Lab. Then, they'll put together these lamps without any fasteners or adhesives! Students will take home their own creation at the end of the week.
Designing & Building: Students will research and brainstorm ideas about what can be built using only the material from a single wooden pallet. Then they will follow the design process to make their creation come to life. The possibilities are endless! We’ll be working out of our school’s BIG Lab innovation makerspace this week.

2-in-1 Summer Fun: Out of the Box Costumes and Let’s Craft: Felting & Quilling
Instructors: Lee Ann Hittenberger & Kimberly Chu
Grades: Rising 5th to Rising 7th
9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.
Out of the Box Costumes: Join instructor Lee Ann Hittenberger in the perfect hands-on class for the aspiring costume designer! Students will explore elements of design through fashion sketching, making color choices, and learning various techniques for construction. There will be hand sewing and some machine sewing. We’ll discover how to take ideas from the page to the stage! At the end of the week, each student will take home their projects in their own hand-sewn bag. No prior sewing experience necessary.
Let’s Craft: Felting & Quilling: Join instructor Kimberly Chu for two fun crafts: needle felting and quilling. This week we will create felted figures using basic hand sewing skills, flat felt, barbed needles, and wool roving. The art of quilling will also be introduced. Using narrow, colorful strips of paper, a slotted tool, and glue, we will create beautiful and unique designs that can be made into pictures and cards. Students are encouraged to draw up their own patterns and dream up their own creations.

Dungeons & Dragons
Instructors: Kuran Pettiross and Jeff Lageson
Grades: Rising 6th to Rising 9th
9:00-4:00 p.m.
Come join us for a week of spectacular adventure into a world of calculating wizards, indomitable warriors, verdant woods, and of course, sprawling dungeons and ancient dragons. In this class, students will learn how to play 5th edition Dungeons & Dragons. Also known as D&D, Dungeons & Dragons is a tabletop role-playing game where the players take on the role of a character of their design. These characters are a part of the world that a storyteller, also known as a Dungeon Master, creates. By the end of the week students will have made their own characters, played an adventure, and defeated the evil of the realm! No experience with the game required; this is an entry-level D&D class.

Strategy Games & Problem Solving Adventures
Instructor: Vicki Pettiross
Grades: Rising 4th to Rising 6th
9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.
Join us for a week of solving pressing problems, from a bus stuck in the desert to renegade zombies, or maybe a loner vampire or even an undercover mystery on a train...! Puzzles will take us outside to find clues, decode patterns, and attempt courageous solutions. These stories include complex calculations and opportunities for students to communicate their thinking and convince each other of the viability of their solutions. Students will be supported in different ways as needed.
