  • Strategy, Problem Solving, Creativity … Board Games! (Ages 5-7)

    Board games are a wonderful but sometimes-overlooked educational tool. Children need and acquire many key skills in order to successfully play board games, including communicating, creativity, fine and gross motor development, strategy, patience, and reading, among others. During this week, the class will experience a variety of great games, including Cranium, Scrabble, Blokus, Labyrinth and an assortment of card games.
  • Soccer Basics (Ages 6-8)

    This is a great opportunity for children to learn the fundamentals of soccer. Over the course of the week, they'll work on lots of skill building and play friendly games with just a little healthy competition.
  • Colorful Crafts (Ages 6-8)

    Join us to create colorful crafts all week! We’ll discuss the color wheel and experiment with how to mix colors. Books and songs about color will be a part of each day, as well as fun and creative art projects in a wide variety of mediums.
  • Storytelling Through Ballet (Ages 7-9)

    Toys, dolls, and fun-loving animal friends come to life when dance, music, and storytelling combine in this comprehensive introduction to classical ballet. Each day, students will dive into the stories of the ballets Coppélia and Peter and the Wolf, learning the history and experiencing the stories through music, books and video clips. A daily ballet class will teach fundamental technique before students apply their knowledge and skills to a short piece of choreography. Family and friends can expect a delightful performance at the end of the week.
  • Machine Sewing (Ages 7-12)

    Students are invited to learn a skill they will use for a lifetime and a hobby they will forever enjoy… sewing! No experience necessary; appropriate for students with either beginning or more advanced sewing skills. New students will learn machine safety and beginner sewing techniques, while more experienced students will have the opportunity to expand on skills they already have. The class will begin with a simple project and then students will advance at their own pace to more exciting and challenging projects throughout the session. Many fun and different patterns are presented each time! Please note: For new students, attending on Monday (the first day of class) is mandatory, as that is when they will learn how to use the machines and important safety tips.
  • Beading and Jewelry Design (Ages 8-10)

    In this fun introduction to beading and simple jewelry design, students will learn about the tools and techniques needed to create earrings, necklaces, bracelets and keychains. We will use a variety of materials to create our jewelry designs.
  • Flash Fiction (Ages 9-11)

    Students read and discuss short stories and vignettes, and learn to write short but powerful stories, drawing on the powers of imagery and suggestion. Students will learn not only to produce stories, but to edit for length—the best writing is efficient, and students will use the workshopping process to help one another produce efficient, creative prose. Students will also participate in the Six Word Story challenge, made famous by "For sale: baby shoes, never worn," attributed to Ernest Hemingway.
  • Electronic Music (Ages 10-13)

    What is electronic music? It is a hip music genre. In this class, children will have a chance to work with a professional electronic music recording artist and learn how to create this type of music, as well as how to use the recording software called Ableton Live to make beats, dance tracks, soundscapes, and original compositions. 
  • Nifty Lifter (Ages 10-14)

    We’re in the BIG Lab makerspace this week, and students will work to design and build a complex machine using only recycled materials. This combination of simple machines will be able to lift a weight that is six times greater than the input weight!

  • Day Hiking Basics (Ages 9-12)

    There’s no better way to spend summer days than hiking in and around our beautiful Seattle! These day hikes are light and simple, perfect for the young and beginner hiking enthusiast. This camp is designed to teach the value of hiking while enjoying the outdoors. Each morning we'll head out for a hike with plenty of rest stops, nature education, and fun along the way. Children should bring a comfortable backpack to sufficiently carry their lunch and water bottle. They must also have sturdy tie-up sneakers or hiking boots. We'll be visiting parks with beach access, so plan to get a little wet and dirty each day!

    Ballet, jazz and modern combine in this introductory dance class inspired by none other than Mary Poppins!     Bienvenue to this fun introduction to French culture and language through games, art projects, and delicious pastries! Students will have the opportunity to order (and taste) French pastries in class. French vocabulary will be introduced through games and songs, students will learn about the city of Paris and its beautiful monuments, and they'll also learn about art in France and create their own inspired art projects.
  • Knitting (Ages 7-12)

    Learn the art of knitting and crochet! Knitting is calming, relaxing, and keeps us centered because of its repetitive rhythmic movements. Beginners will start slowly with finger knitting, before moving on to knitting needles and our handy Knifty Knitter Looms. Projects include bookmarks, stuffed animals, hats, headbands, pouches and more!
  • Week of Cakes: Baking & Decorating (Ages 8-12)
